I’ve always said the biggest room in everyone’s house, apartment, mobile home, or condo is the room for improvement. And to improve or ‘get it right’ one must be motivated.

What motivates you? What gives you that added oomph or Ever-Ready-Bunny determination?

Many days getting the job done invariably means having to go that extra mile. Everyone needs motivation. No one can do much with it.

Finding one’s motivation is a gold mine of raw energy needed to make dreams a reality.

Yes, motivation is gold!  How do we harvest it?

Motivation is what stands between us and our achievements.

If the answer to how things are going is ‘same old same old,’ maybe motivation is missing. It’s pretty easy to become pooped out, energy-less, blah, or lackadaisical? And we know that every day won’t be a thunderbolt of enthusiasm. But there will be no action or electrical output without motivation.

And to be honest, the pandemic can’t take all the blame. De-motivation was a part of our pre-pandemic challenges also—remember?

Dig a little deeper.

Self-motivation or the interest to do this or that for whatever reason is a must!

Is your motivating interest internal or external? It can be both. There’s a kick-butt or work-your-tail-off attitude to receive an internal and or external benefit or reward.

Consider the following three motivators.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO?

Knowing the WHY is a big motivator. The why can be for oneself or others.

Self-satisfaction and or money are two common rewards. They become the why or the reason someone labors and try to achieve needs and desires.

Maybe I’m doing the right thing, but it’s for the wrong reason. I guess we can even do the wrong thing for the right reason. Anyway, the WHY of doing what we do is very important.

1  A clear WHY will keep us motivated.

Why do I blog? I blog because I enjoy writing. Of course, I can write without blogging, and I do. I have many tablets with written thoughts. And I’ve written two books so far. So, writing is self-satisfying. Writing takes me to a calm, peaceful place. Notice, I didn’t mention money. But I do want to be able to pay for publishing and other expenses.

And it’s OK if the motivator is gold—the mean green, the mighty dollar? That moola can be a good driver to get things done.

Money is a good WHY to ‘get things done.’

2.  Motivation is a CALL to do.

Our goals, ambitions, and dreams must speak to us. They must call us. And we must crave and answer the call. A call from your dream or ambition motivates.

Have you received a CALL lately?

Distractions, distractions, distractions; our world is full of them. Your ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and mind must be present in the same space and time.

3.  Avoiding distractions can also be a motivator.

It irritates me when my husband watches Star Trek in the kitchen where I’m writing or reading. I’m not good at blocking things out.

Focus on your CALL

Feed your internal callings and avoid distractions.

Knowing what calls, why, and eliminating distractions can get us where we need to be in life and achieve our potential and dreams.

Leonardo da Vinci said, “I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.”

Be safe.
