I heard someone remark that they had no desire to be the same person they were before the pandemic. Many of us may feel the same way for similar and different reasons based on our spiritual insight and growth during these times of uncertainty. And everyone has had to deal with uncertainty during this pandemic.

Wanting to be a better person in the waning of its deadly grip is honorable.

The instructions of Colossians 3:23 is a great model for change in the life of anyone who wants to become a better person.

Colossians 3:23 (KJV) says, “And whatever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”

The whatever covers who, what, when, where, how, and why. The whatever includes everyone we interact with and everything that is said or done.

If Colossians 3:23 is a guiding force, there’s no impetus to disparage or mistreat others. Everyone deserves and receives fairness and respect when Colossians 3:23 is modeled. Deceiving and underserving will be a thing of the past.

Is there ever a reason to sluff off and do less than our best for God?

The kindness done to one on earth is the kindness done to God in heaven. The hatred done to a brother is hatred done to God.

Is there ever a reason to hurt or do less than our best for a friend, spouse, family member, stranger, or employer? Colossians 3:23 relates that as we do to others, we do to God.

There are always justifications for doing or not doing something based on a person’s attitude or actions.

Sometimes these justifications lead to tits for tats?

Tits for tats are the infliction of injuries or insults in return for those that one has suffered.

Little Timothy hits Mary. And Mary hits or spits on Timothy in return.

Tit for tat is no different than an eye for an eye.

James Brown called it ‘the big payback.’ REVENGE!

But God wants us to deal civilly with each other. We know God to be just and loving all the time. But our earthly counterparts change like the weather. But Christians should remain constant and obey the Golden Rule.

Whatever that is done, do it with heart. Do the best job according to one’s given abilities.

Perform the act as if it is done for God.

Ultimately God is the employer in all that we do.

He not only employs us but encourages us to do our best.

Colossians 3:23 is a solemn acknowledgment.

When we treat others right, we honor not only them as brethren, but more importantly, we honor God who commands it.

Be safe.
