What are some things you appreciate about yourself? What do you like about YOU?

I’ve never thought much about this question until recently, but we neglect to identify our attributes and thank ourselves for what we do. We can do this in humility without getting ‘the big head.’

There’s nothing wrong with telling yourself you’re doing a good job. Doing this affirms who we are, the importance of what we do, and validates our commitments and aspirations to be good stewards of our talents and God-given blessings and responsibilities.

It’s okay to appreciate YOU!

Now is a good time to give credit where credit is due.

Betty, thank you for doing a good job! I know your heart is in it, and you’re committed to those you love because God is committed to you. Remember, don’t sweat the little things. And don’t neglect your ‘Betty time.’

I thank God for His physical, material, and spiritual gifts that enable me to fulfill my purpose to be a blessing to others. It’s Okay to encourage yourself.

Whether retired or employed, sometimes people invalidate what they do because it’s second nature. It’s the clockwork of their lives.

Come to think of it, who is your biggest cheerleader if it’s not YOU?

No one can be in your corner and be your biggest advocate than YOU. Let’s hear it for giving yourself some credit.

WOOP! WOOP!

Jot down some of your ‘YOU GO GIRL’ or GUY doings? List several things you accomplished in the last few days. Anything done isn’t too small to mention.

Maybe you cooked a wonderful meal and invited the children and grands over, mowed the lawn, took the kids to their softball game, or other things.

I cooked breakfast for Mom this morning. Of course, I prepare breakfast every morning; this is what I do. What we do is important to us and others.

This is a false statement for me and probably for you too. I haven’t done anything today!

Don’t discount or take yourself for granted. It’s amazing how we devalue the small and repetitive things we do until we’re no longer able to do them.

But also learn to appreciate yourself even when you really don’t do anything. Of course, doing nothing may be your YOU time.

I appreciate and value my ‘ME’ time.

Writing is a big part of my ‘Betty time’ along with solving Sudoku Puzzles, playing the piano, and reading God’s word and other books.

Believe it or not, you got it going on! You’re the Man! You have the means to fulfill your purpose.

Here are a few reminders about appreciating YOU!

“When you undervalue what you do, the world will undervalue who you are.”
― Oprah Winfrey

“Self-appreciation is a sign of maturity, seeking appreciation is a sign of immaturity”
― Sivaprakash Sidhu

“I don’t wear the opinions of others anymore; I learnt to dress myself.”
― Nikki Rowe

Appreciate YOU and what you do!

Be safe.
