I don’t know how to say thank you to the healthcare workers: doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, first responders, and others.
We are counting on you. Especially when the country is told to prepare for the worse but hope for the best.
Thank you for your continued sacrifice and service in the war against Coronavirus. May God bless and keep you. Your love and duty-driven unselfishness are a Godsend.
But there is something everyone can do. And we must do our part.
Whoever thought that we would stop congregating as families and friends? We refrain from shaking hands or hugging. Now we say hello and good-by with a wave, air kiss, fist or elbow bump.
Today, social distancing makes the world a better and safer place. We can no longer reach out and touch somebody’s hand.
Coronavirus separates us.
Hunkered down, sheltered in place, or stay at home directed, we fear the unknown about this invisible virus. We are like an island unto ourselves.
We’re in a Coronavirus pandemic. How do you fight the anxiety and feelings of helplessness? How do you find peace in such uncertain times?
Don’t lose faith. Continue to pray. God will help us through this Coronavirus storm.
Also, be committed, and do your due diligence.
Medical experts say hand washing and social distancing are the keys to decreasing the spread of the virus.
Wednesday, my eleven-year-old granddaughter asked me, “Mia, do you think the world is ending.” I told her I didn’t think so, but it would end one day. She cited the fires in Australia and Coronavirus as happenings that might suggest the end times.
And a child speaks the truth.
She read 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 as a requirement for God to hear our pleas and save us. I told her if we obey God’s word, he would hear, protect, and save us.
Children pay attention and are very intuitive.
When we can’t make sense of things with what our ears hear, and our eyes see, don’t get overwhelmed. Know that God is still in control.
Focus on God’s promises and not on our problems.
The following are some suggestions and ways to decrease your anxiety.
1. Take a breather from the news about Coronavirus.
2. Rediscover the beauty and blessing of being alive today. Tomorrow is in God’s hand, trust God every day.
3. Move! Do something if you are hunkered down due to a lay-off, furlough, or if self-quarantined.
4. Watch a Hallmark movie. A happy ending is almost guaranteed.
5. Read a good book. Read the Bible.
6. Find a new hobby. Learn how to crochet or some other needlework.
7. Window shop home-shopping networks.
8. Try new casserole or cake recipes.
9. Start spring cleaning early. Get rid of clothes not worn in the past year. Set free the too small or old shoes that you no longer wear. Discard worn and pilled sheets.
10. Complete needed interior paint jobs.
11. Create a Facebook page and send friend requests.
12. Work in the yard and plant flowers or a garden.
13. Write letters to friends and family.
14. Birdwatch.
Do something you want to do but have put it off for some time.
Remember 2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV), “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
With God’s help, we can win the war against Coronavirus.
