If no one has told you today how important and precious you are, let me do so.

You are SOMEBODY!

You are SPECIAL!

You are SOMEBODY SPECIAL!

You may not have the job, education, income, or house you desire, or live in the community you want, but you are someone special.

These are not idle words but a truth everyone can believe.

I’m reminded about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote, “If a man is called to be a street sweeper. He should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, ‘Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

Where someone works, or what they do to earn a living, does not define who they are. How much someone earns weekly, monthly, or annually does not define their nature. Whether someone lives in the White House, Hollywood, or in the Imperial Palace does not make them better than someone who lives near an outhouse.

My humble beginning, as the sixth of eleven children, does not marginalize my worth.

Our ancestors endured the stench, depravity, indignity, and tribulations of slavery; this did not cheapen their worth to God.

Where we come from and what we come through do not subjugate us to anyone.

What makes us who we are begins at creation.

God’s word says, “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27

Believing this fact, this is what David said to God, his creator. David said, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

David knew he was flesh and blood and a spiritual being; he had a soul that belonged to God.

As it was for David, it is no different for all. We can either deny or proclaim what David says in Psalm 139:14.

Yes, I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Of all of God’s creations, we are uniquely made and fitted for God’s purpose and praise.

Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Regardless of our occupation, income, and other circumstances, we can honor, obey, and praise God, who knows us by name and deeds.

There is no need to worry about how our family, friends, employers, or neighbors define or think about us.

Only God knows who we are. Only God knows our hearts toward others and toward him.

To know we are Somebody is to know that we are made in God’s image and likeness and bear his markings or trademark.

We are unique individuals, and God knows us all, along with our different circumstances, hopes, and desires.

Psalm 37:4 states,” Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he will give thee the desires of thine heart.”

I hope that you are happy and well.
