Isn’t there anything else to talk about other than the results of the November 6, 2024, presidential election, especially the disappointments?
Stick a fork in it; it’s done!
I thought about Bobby Womack, who asked a relevant question, “Can you understand it?”
Can we understand that ‘it is what it is?’
On January 20, 2025, there will be a new inauguration.
In the meantime, people still have to show up to work. Parents have to take and pick up their children at school, help them with homework, and take them to athletic practices and other functions.
Life is still happening!
Hungry children are crying, and people in warring counties are dying.
Can we understand it?
Unfortunately, many Americans are troubled and don’t think they will ever understand it. They can’t understand what happened. Where did the joy and hope go?
Who refuses joy and hope?
It’s too bad the presidential election isn’t like an Alabama versus Auburn football rivalry. If this were the case, the news cycle would be much shorter.
The game is on November 30 this year. Alabama will leave the field with bragging rights. We will talk about how Alabama whipped Auburn for a week or so after the shellacking. After that, the sports pundits and media may occasionally mention the game.
OK, I admit this may not be the case, even for the Auburn versus Alabama annual football rivalry.
Disappointment lags for a while.
A presidential election isn’t held every year!
But what about good sportsmanship and the rules of the game?
There were countless face-mask infractions, late hits, illegal handoffs, and intentional grounding. You name it; it happened in the 2024 presidential election.
No penalties were called, and the winner with the most infractions won.
Good sportsmanship and compliance with the rules apply to everything we do, right?
The truth is anxiety is running high for many citizens because they are fearful about the future of their families, friends, themselves, and America under the newly elected president.
Some news articles state some people are experiencing PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).
What about the children? Children aren’t immune to the stressors of their parents. The barrage of news, the what ifs, and the what do you think will happen are creating anxiety, fear, and other problematic emotions. And all ages are affected.
I’ve heard people say they’re grieving about the election results. Did these people lose something?
Maybe they lost their joy and hope.
Election grief is real. This grief isn’t anything like Alabama losing to Auburn or vice versa.
We must understand that these post-presidential anxieties exist and that some people may need professional help.
Can we understand this?
But let’s not forget. Things are never as bleak as they may appear because no game or presidential occurs outside God’s providence.
So, where are we with our understanding, whether it’s a football game or a political election with or without rules?
The Bible reminds believers:
“As you do not know the path of the wind or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the maker of all things.” Ecclesiastes 11:5
Thank God! I don’t have to understand it because He does.
Be happy and well!
Your words are on point as always.
Thanks for reading and for the encouragement.
Throughly enjoyed! Very insightful and relevant and relatable. But now we have to “stick a folk in it” because it’s done. Kudos my oldest sister!💜
Thanks, as usual for your viewpoint and comments.
