Sometimes writing is like taking a child-proof cap off a bottle of Tylenol, especially when you ‘start. Yes, a writer is willing to stare at a blank sheet of paper for hours. Actually, it’s an inward stare, not outward. The paper is there so people won’t think we’re weird or wacko. But once the bottle cap is off and you’re past the resistance, the words suddenly appear.

There are tons of writers and bloggers in the U.S. and world. The number doesn’t matter. It’s our writing that matters.

No one can write my story but me.

I’m sure you feel the same way about your gift or ambition.

I decided to make a list of the reasons why I write.

You can also make a list about your passion.

  • I write to get out and to get it out.
  • I write to preserve the beauty of the moment.
  • I write to fill my head with things other than what’s happening now.
  • I write to leave a trail of where I’ve been, not knowing if I will return.
  • I write to move stubborn mountains and to cross great seas.
  • I write because gravity pulls on my mind and heart.
  • I write because I feel.
  • I write to share this moment with others.
  • I write to realign and find myself.
  • I write because I see, hear, taste, and feel things not seen.
  • I write to recapture the simplicity of life and my childhood wonder.
  • I write because I don’t know what else to do.
  • I write to move freely in time while sitting still.
  • I write to become a visitor instead of being a resident.
  • I write to learn the language of the morning sun as it perpetually runs to-and-fro across the sky.
  • I write because I’m bad at it but want to get better.
  • I write because I marvel at God.

What are some of the reasons why you write, sing, paint, or whatever you do?

Let us all do what we love until we fill the pages of life.

Stay safe.
