We all misplace things: keys, jewelry, receipts, cell phones, and many other things. As a matter of fact, recently, I misplaced one of my favorite black spinel necklaces.

I hope it’s misplaced and not lost.

To misplace is supposedly a temporary conundrum about the location of something one cannot find. When something is lost, it may not be found.

Remember when your mom told you to put your money in your purse or pocket before you lose it? I hate losing stuff! Some lost stuff is irreplaceable, especially sentimental things like pictures or gifts.

You can lose almost anything. People lose their jobs and hair.

But we not only lose things and stuff, sometimes we lose friends due to misunderstandings or not seeing eye-to-eye. When we lose a friend, we usually ask ourselves, “Were they even a real friend in the first place? We can all agree that the loss of a true friend is a significant loss.

But we not only lose things and friends, we also lose our way in life, especially when the truth is compromised and trust falters.

The truth is indeed a hot topic of concern today!

What is the truth?

How can people find the truth? And what people try to do to the truth is outrageous and sometimes criminal!

Can people lose the truth like they lose things?

This question implies that truth can be possessed. Yes, we should and can know the truth or be able to recognize it. To know the truth is to possess it, whether we acknowledge it or not. How can anyone lose something they don’t possess?

Some say people lose sight of the truth as if it’s a shapeshifter or someone stole it. How can the truth be present one moment and disappear the next?

Can the truth be misplaced? We all know it can be displaced with a lie.

Can one bend the truth? To bend the truth changes the composition—altering and fashioning elements to create a lie. For simplicity’s sake, if the truth is bent, it’s a lie.

The truth is equal to the sum of its parts. If any part of the truth changes, it’s no longer the truth.

Here are a few things to ponder to find the truth about a circumstance, person, place, or thing.

To find the truth, look and perceive with the light of Christ? Ask Christ for a clear vision to discover the nature and characteristics of things. Looking beyond the surface and exterior is more revealing. We need the light of Christ because time, proximity, prejudices, relationships, money, and other things can jade our eyes and dismantle objectivity.

To say that Christ, the righteous judge, has nothing to do with seeing or discovering the truth is to assume the truth doesn’t exist or is lost and unretrievable. We can’t afford to accept any and everything as truth.

People deny, conceal, bury, compromise, and even hate the truth. People fashion an alternative, bent, or modified truth for personal, material, positional, and other favorable gains.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Truth is the property of no individual but is the treasure of all men.” In other words, we all have an interest in the truth.

Some people swear an oath to God with their hands on the Bible to convince others they’re telling the truth.

Spencer Johnson said, “Integrity is telling myself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”

A notable quote from George Orwell states, “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.”

Christians must speak the truth in and out of season even if they stand alone.

Proverbs 12:19 (KJV) reveals, “The lip of truth shall be established forever.”

People may torture, kill and bury the truth, but the truth will rise and reveal itself to those who seek it.

The DNA of the truth is forever!

Be safe.
