If we want to know how humble we should be but yet so hopeful at the same time, Psalm 103:14 describes the metropolis of our existence, dependency on God, and hope for salvation.

This Bible verse states, “For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.”

Whether a Samson, dwarf, president, or beggar, this is what you and I am. The verse paints a picture that frames our substance and the reality of our stature.

There’s no mistake; I am dust. This is what I am, but it’s great to know that I am His.

And there’s no doubt; I will always need God.

The eleven words of Psalms 103:14 are comforting and assuring that God is forever mindful of our being. He knows our nature and all of our ways. We are an earthen vessel of dust or clay in His hands.

He is God; we are dust.

Why is it that when we forge a name, we forget our frame and get the ‘big head’? We should be cautious of vainglory. But even when we make mistakes and forsake His Word, He remembers who we are.

Thank you, God, for the forgiveness of sins, for we are dust! But as a born-again Christian, we are more.

God is longsuffering. He is working for our good to grow faith and trust in Him. Even during this pandemic, He tempers His chastisement because of who we are by nature—weak, needy creatures.

This is our human existence, dust with a living soul. Yes, we are the children of God’s making. And as the Father, He knows the frailties of the flesh. Each morning appears, and the sun rises with the mercies of His breath. Each day is a new beginning with Him.

When I read the verse, I am assured that God knows how much I can bear. And He is always there to help me carry the load of troubles, disappointments—whatever the trial or burden.

Psalm 103:14 is a good memory verse. And remembering different Bible verses fuels one’s faith and tank for the day and journey ahead.

And oh, how we need you, God, right now on this pandemic journey!

Again, God knows that we need Him because our earthly frame or body is weak. He provides needs according to the seasons of life. He gives food, clothing, water, and shelter for physical needs and His Holy Spirit for the nourishment of our souls.

Again, God, our Father, is longsuffering in his love and mercy because He knows His property and the properties of the flesh. With His tender mercies, He pardons our sins and follies if we repent and renew our minds in Him.

Just think, if God’s people, who are called by His name, would humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways; He will hear us from heaven and will forgive our sins, and will heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Prayer:

God, we humble ourselves. Teach our hearts to pray, for heaven and earth are thine, and all that is within. Thine is the power and glory. Forgive us of our sins. Please heal the people and land. Amen.

God is listening when we pray. “For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.”
