The other day, I thought about the challenges of becoming self-empowered and permitting oneself to be so. Knowing one’s strengths, weaknesses, and goals can spark self-empowerment, acting without permission and help from others.
Like self-propelled mowers, we have the inner workings to make many of life’s decisions on our own. Those self-vacuum robots are some pretty independent or semi-autonomous cleaning machines. Maybe one day I’ll buy a robotic vacuum cleaner, but right now, I push and pull my upright.
But I’m keen on making decisions that affect me.
In many instances, we propel ourselves to be self-sufficient and operate independently, requiring little or no physical, emotional, or intellectual support.
But let’s face it—we aren’t entirely autonomous; we aren’t machines. But we have a need to push ourselves to personal or self-empowerment, a human quality that doesn’t pertain to devices.
You determine and command the scope of your self-empowerment. As an adult, you are the CEO, the head honcho, the guy in charge, and the BOSS of you.
Don’t you admire those who are self-confident, at the top of their game, know what they want, and are not afraid to go after it?
They ooze self-empowerment.
What is empowering oneself?
The prefix ‘em’ means to put in or into. Power is our ability to act and do. And in many instances, the suffix, ‘ment’ means to remember.
Remember, you have the power; I have the power; we have the power to make decisions when we empower ourselves.
Just do it!
Self-empowerment is all about self-influence and decision-making to take charge of our lives.
Zig Ziglar said, “You are the most influential person you will talk to all day.”
Just think about that quote for a moment—you are your greatest influencer. When your heart speaks, listen. Others may not hear the words coming out of your mouth, but you hear them. And when you do, believe them!
I got the power! You got the power!
Do what’s right for you!
Isn’t it wonderful that God gives us the power to choose coffee, juice, our husband or wife, our place of residence, and much more?
We have the power of choice!
Yes, we get to also choose our eternal home by choosing Christ.
Confidence, values, experiences, personal growth, self-knowledge, and other things empower us to make decisions. One of the things that can better empower us is self-knowledge, knowing one’s values and ambitions.
To know you is to be and do you!
Being self-empowered doesn’t mean listening to suggestions from others is out of the question. But self-empowered does mean not allowing others to make decisions for you. When others make your decisions, they have your power.
The power to authorize yourself to do and act is within you!
We can have the attitude and gratitude to live our best life every day! There’s nothing better than being the best you.
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
You are empowered to be and do you!
Be safe.
