In the latter part of John 8:32 (KJV) Jesus says, “The truth shall make you free.”

All living things want to be free. A captured bird, squirrel, and even an ant will scratch and bite to escape and be free.
And man, who has dominion over the earth’s creatures and resources, will do more and worse for freedom.

The liberty to act, think, and speak as we desire is personal freedom. But there is also spiritual freedom.

What makes us spiritually free?

Jesus said if we abide in his word, we shall know the truth which will make us free.

So, what’s the truth?

Before answering this question, here’s another question.

Why is it that the truth sometimes has the sidekick, “real,” in front of it?

We’ve all said and heard others say, “The real truth” is…to dispel or refute a lie.

The real truth after the first truth is the same truth.

In contrast, people don’t usually say, “The real lie” is….

However, the real lie after the first lie is the second lie.

The truth doesn’t need a companion, any additions, or anything to pretty it up.

The truth needs to be told.

The truth doesn’t have 2 sides, and it’s not for sale.

Circumstances, money, political parties, or social norms can’t change the truth. The truth is apolitical, acultural, nonracial, and non-denominational.

Anything other than the truth isn’t a half-truth or an alternative.

It’s a lie.

What’s the answer to the question, what’s the truth?

The truth is God’s word. And believing and abiding in Jesus, who is God’s word made flesh, makes us free.
Abiding in Jesus bails out, sets free, and liberates believers from sin and death.

If the truth makes us free, what will sin do?

Sin enslaves the doer.

Have you ever been shackled to a lie?

No doubt, confessing the truth was the key to freeing your conscience.

The truth is liberty and life through Jesus Christ.

Sin is captivity to Satan and death.

Everyone has free will to choose the truth of salvation in Jesus.

God’s word is the same today as it was yesterday and as it shall be tomorrow and forever.

Know, choose, and declare the truth and be made free.
