There’s gold in them thar hills!” an old prospector exclaims in a television advertisement.

We know about the renowned gold rush in California and other states in America. People killed and died for the shiny stuff that made finders wealthy and powerful.

Gold is mentioned more than 360 times in the Bible in the Old and New Testaments. The Good Book speaks of heaven having streets of gold. Revelation 21:21 (KJV) says, “And the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.”

Gold isn’t only valuable, it’s beautiful, and heaven is adorned with it.

Gold is one of the most important metals in our society: used in ancient temples, modern electronics, medical equipment, the making of beautiful jewelry, and many other things.

The desire for gold hasn’t waned from its first discovery. Everybody wants gold!

But I’ve never heard anyone say, “There is gold in the human body,” until recently. And I’m not talking about gold fillings in teeth or fool’s gold, minerals that only look like gold. We are talking about pure gold.

There is pure gold in your body!

Regardless of how surprising this might be, gold in the body isn’t an anomaly or coincidence.

Many might think this isn’t possible because gold is a metal and an inorganic element. Well, so are other variable trace elements in the body. The human body contains many elements, but none are as surprising as gold, the lust of the world.

So, how much gold is in the average body? Inquiring minds want to know, so I looked it up!

The detectable trace of gold and other metals or elements varies and is proportionate to the fat, muscle, bone, and other bodily factors.

The average body has .2 milligrams of gold. An average body is 70 kilograms or around 154 pounds. How much are .2 milligrams? Point two milligrams convert to .0002 grams. This seems minuscule or barely a trace of gold, but the function of this tiny amount of gold is very important.

Thank God for only trace amounts. Can you imagine someone trying to extract gold from living beings? Even with this trace amount, people are worth their weight in gold.

Where is this gold, and what is its function in the body?

Although the trace of gold is tiny, the benefits are not. Gold plays a role in maintaining body health and is predominately in the blood. Gold transmits electrical signals in the heart, other organs, and functions throughout the body.

Who would have guessed that the commodity traded in stock markets worldwide is a part of every individual? And it aids our physical health.

Think of it in this manner; we are richer than we knew.

Moreover, when you have your health, you’re golden.

I struck gold!

Be well.
